From Consulting to Construction: Behind the INCITIAS 10-Year Commemorative Build.
To mark a decade of consulting-led engineering, INCITIAS created a custom original equipment set — to celebrate a milestone and reflect the way our solutions are built: from insight, through iteration, to outcome.
The build was imagined, designed, and assembled in-house. While only a small number were produced, the story behind them is a showcase of the hands-on creativity, technical depth, and problem-solving mindset which defines our approach.
Much like our engineering process, it began with a challenge — how do you represent a decade of work in one tangible piece?
The first step was a Prototype created during the Christmas break. Using a litany of pieces from the Technic and original LEGO range, the prototype was delivered to Marketing early in the year. Next our engineering and Marketing teams collaborated to reverse-engineer the 3D model, into a functional, buildable set. Capturing a signature piece of our Original Equipment from past projects.
From there, we refined the concept over multiple iterations: sourcing and shipping components in globally, testing prototypes, and counting (and recounting) every part to ensure accuracy.
Once approved, we carefully counted each piece twice, assembled each set (again checking pieces twice) into custom packaging — including instruction manuals, individually packed components, and a personalised insert — all subject to internal quality checks to ensure completeness and consistency.
This build isn’t just a novelty — it’s a scaled-down tribute to the way our consulting and original equipment work go together.
At INCITIAS, most of our equipment solutions are born from a consulting engagement: a client with a challenge, and a team ready to engineer the answer. From marine loading systems to hydrogen supply chain feasibility, our focus is always on fit-for-purpose solutions which deliver value through engineering clarity and collaboration.
This commemorative piece captures that journey — not in technical reports or data tables, but in something you can physically build.
(Admittedly, this particular build required far fewer structural calculations than usual — and for the record, our structural engineers were neither consulted nor asked to sign off on the acceptability of its design or load-bearing capacity.)
