The other side of project work: A Year of Connection at INCITIAS

Amanda Johnson

As the Marketing and Events Manager at INCITIAS, I often receive photos and stories from our team’s social activities. These moments – captured at lunches, celebrations, and cultural events – tell story of  inclusivity and connection. Sharing these highlights, is one of the best parts of my role. It’s a reminder, behind every project milestone is a team of people who value collaboration and support.

Building Bonds Beyond Work

At INCITIAS, project work is about more than just deadlines and deliverables. It’s also about the friendships and networks we build. This year, our team showed these connections extend far beyond the office. We shared meals, stayed active with competitive tennis matches, explored new cultures, and enjoyed downtime together. These connections make the tough days easier and successes more rewarding.

Celebrations defining 2024

This year, we embraced the social side of work with enthusiasm. We kicked off the year with a birthday celebration. Monthly meals became a favourite tradition, with everything from pulled pork and brisket with delicious sides, to morning teas and pastries. Spontaneous lunches added warmth to the workweek, whether to mark birthdays or to share a good meal. Our Diwali celebration, brought together culture and colleagues with an incredible home made curry and sides.

We also marked INCITIAS’ ninth anniversary – a moment to celebrate growth and achievement. Personal milestones were a highlight too, including 50th birthday celebrations alongside our usual birthday festivities. On International Dog Day, we celebrated our beloved furry colleagues—Chocolate, Oreo, Cosmo, and the newest addition, Dom—who bring joy to our workplace.

Exploring Cultures and Celebrating Successes

Our international projects brought unique chances to experience local cultures. Dinners in Jakarta and Singapore turned project celebrations into memorable evenings. Charlie’s return from the installation supervision trip to China added a culinary highlight, as he shared stories of trying local delicacies like sea worms, pregnant prawns, and local KFC with a beef twist.

Adventures in Team Spirit

Remote working brought on its own adventures. As I often joked, it felt like a Dr. Seuss story: “on a train, plane, or boat, or braving rain and hail. In the dark, without a shark (Underwater Inspections), working here, there, and anywhere.” Whether at home or on the move, our team showed resilience and adaptability.

Halloween in Jakarta added a fun, spooky twist to the year. Throughout the year we welcomed new staff and family members, and said heartfelt farewells reminding us of the dynamic nature of the INCITIAS family.

Looking Ahead

These moments show the heart of INCITIAS—a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and joy. As we look to 2025, I’m excited to share more stories of connection and celebrate the people who make this company a wonderful place to work.
