Altera Offloading System
Offloading system delivered for Altera Infrastructure Baleine Phase 2 Project
INCITIAS successfully delivered a complete offloading system for our client Altera Infrastructure. Altera is the owner-operator of the vessels to be deployed in the Baleine field, offshore Côte d’Ivoire, operated by Eni. The project included five specially designed reels — comprising one hose reel with integral spooler, two hawser reels with standalone spoolers and two messenger line winches — tailored to meet the rigorous demands of offloading oil in an offshore marine environment.
Our latest offloading system enables efficient tandem mooring of a tanker to the Floating Storage and Offloading (FSO) unit, allowing for the safe and reliable transfer of crude oil through a 20-inch hose. This system is crucial for exporting oil from the field.
Prior to the fabrication phase, our engineering team engaged in meticulous planning and design processes. Through regular and close communication with Altera and the shipyard, we were able to understand and incorporate specific project requirements and constraints into an original equipment solution. This solution not only meets the functional demands of the project but also seamlessly integrates with new and existing structures and equipment on the vessel, ensuring optimal use of space and compatibility.
Flexibility is key in our industry, and our team exemplified this by proactively adjusting the design to accommodate additional equipment planned for installation by other contractors. Notably, modifications to the access ladder of our offloading system were made to align with a maintenance platform adjacent to the hose reel. Selecting a fabricator based in Dubai, close to the project site, meant smoother logistics, easier and convenience for client involvement and inspection at FAT. Combined with our meticulous oversight, contribute to a product we’re proud to stand behind.
Our skilled staff, including Yuri Tikhanov, Matthew Hillbrich and Jae-Heon Lee, played pivotal roles in overseeing the fabrication process—from material procurement and machining to assembly and painting. The team was also present on-site to conduct the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), which was carefully performed in the presence of the client to demonstrate the system’s operational readiness and handle any emergent challenges.
This project is pivotal for Altera and their client Eni, emphasizing the critical nature of safe and efficient offloading operations in their overall success. Additionally, it serves as a demonstration to potential clients about INCITIAS’ capabilities and dedication to delivering tailored, high-quality solutions which meet diverse operational needs and project specifications.
