Meet the INCITIAS Team
Holger Kelle – Managing Director
In our first edition of our Meet the Team series, we speak with Holger Kelle, one of INCITIAS’ founders and the Managing Director. Founded the business in 2015, with Bastiaan Scheepers. After working in the industry for nearly two decades, Holger saw the need for a company to provide integrated solutions, with a holistic vision of project solutions. Adopting a systems engineering approach to project development.
‘With INCITIAS we sought to create a team of highly effectual and knowledgeable staff without the bureaucracy and red tape of larger organisations,’ Holger says. Beyond business management, Holger is involved in day-to-day consulting activities, project work and business development.
Holger holds a Bachelor of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering from Bremen University, with post-graduate studies in Data Analysis at Humboldt University, Berlin. Holger trained academically in Germany, working at shipyards in Finland and Germany. While growing up near the North Sea in Germany, Holger was fascinated with ships from an early age. Impressed with their sheer size and complexity. This led to a ‘respect for the microcosm involved in shipbuilding. Encapsulating every engineering discipline to turn an idea into reality.’ Holger explains, ‘This still represents my favourite part of my job; working with clients around the world, within a multidisciplinary team producing creative solutions with new, constantly changing, and challenging technologies!’
After moving to Australia with his wife in 2002, Holger started his Australian career in Australian Defence shipbuilding. Moving to the energy industry, with a focus on floating production systems. Holger’s career has allowed him to work in more than 28 countries to assist with developing energy import and export facilities, mostly for LNG and a range of alternative fuels such as Ammonia and Hydrogen.
‘Establishing an exceptional multi-disciplinary team is something we have worked hard to foster. We have a fantastic team of incredibly smart people whose company I thoroughly enjoy’ Holger remarked. ‘With our involvement on the CEDAR project in British Columbia, Canada, we were able to showcase our best abilities, with the innovative technology development by our multi-disciplinary team,’ Holger continued, ‘the project required us to develop a nearshore mooring for an FLNG facility able to survive a 9m Tsunami and provide the ability to transfer 120MW of Power from shore reliably.’
While thoroughly enjoying his responsibilities as a director, his consulting services and business development, Holger also enjoys downtime with his family, reading David Baldacci novels to relax or walking the dogs along his favourite beach at Inverloch. Holger enjoys the Cohen brother movies, particularly No Country for Old Men and attending concerts, of which Melbourne has no shortage.
